Sleeping Lady wins State Environmental and Management Awards for second consecutive year
Recipient of Washington Hotel & Lodging Association's
2003 Enviro - Management & Outstanding Manager of the Year Awards
General Manager, Paula Helsel was honored to accept the Enviro - Management Award at the Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association's annual conference in Spokane this October. Sleeping Lady has once again been recognized as the best example of integrating environmental management practices within Washington state's lodging community. The award criteria included documented successes in energy conservation, solid waste reduction, water conservation, natural landscaping and environmentally responsible purchasing practices. This is one of four achievement awards presented by WSH&LA each year at their Stars of the Industry Awards Ceremony.
Sleeping Lady's Dining Room, Banquet and Beverage Manager, John Varvaro, was honored at the same awards ceremony for his outstanding management and leadership skills. An employee since 1999, John effectively oversees all food and beverage services in our dining hall and meeting spaces. Varvaro is also our talented resident opera singer, serenading groups and honoring those celebrating special occassions with his enviable performances. The staff and management of Sleeping Lady are proud of John, and pleased that another member of our leadership team has been honored with the Outstanding Manager of the Year Award for small lodging properties.
