Spring, Summer & Fall
Leavenworth offers a myriad of outdoor activities to suit any experience level. From rafting to hiking, skiing and snowshoeing, Sleeping Lady is the ideal base camp for adventures of all kinds.
Mountain & Road Biking
Many rides are available near Sleeping Lady, and range from scenic paved roads to challenging single-track trails. Freund Canyon is a locals favorite for mountain biking as is the Chumstick to Plain, Tumwater Canyon loop for road bikers. Bike rentals and trail and ride beta are available locally from Der Sportsmann, Das Rad Haus or Euro Sports.
Whitewater Rafting
The Wenatchee River, a Class III river, is Washington's most popular for river trips. The season typically runs from April to August. Recommended local rafting companies include Orion Expeditions and River Riders.
Tubing
Spend a relaxing half or full day on the upper Wenatchee River and enjoy frequent sightings of nesting birds. With the hot summer weather, dropping water levels and warming water July and August is the perfect time to beat the heat with a lazy two mile float. Stop for a picnic on a sandy beach and a swim in the refreshing water. Try Tube Leavenworth, or any of our other recommended rafting companies.
Hiking
Experience an endless variety of trails in the surrounding Wenatchee National Forest including the spectacular Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Day permits are available at the Front Desk. Fishing
A variety of fishing opportunities are available in the area, including trout fishing in the mountain lakes. Fly fishing instruction is available in Leavenworth. Fishing licenses are available at Der Sportsmann in Leavenworth.
Horseback Riding
In the summer, horseback rides are offered adjacent to Sleeping Lady by Icicle Outfitters & Guides.
Hay Rides
Red Tail Canyon Farm and Eagle Creek Ranch offer hay rides in horse-drawn wagons.
Golf
Golf is available at the following 18-hole courses: Leavenworth Golf Club, Kahler Glen (Lake Wenatchee), and Desert Canyon (Orondo). The Enzian Falls Championship Putting Course is open spring, summer and fall in downtown Leavenworth.
Rock Climbing
Many of the Pacific Northwest's most classic rock climbs are located within a few minutes of all the comforts of Sleeping Lady. Leavenworth-based Northwest Mountain School offers instruction and guided climbs.
Paragliding
Aerial Paragliding is the premier paragliding school and training facility in the United States and is located just a hop, skip and a jump in Cashmere.
Birding
Find feathered friends in every season along the Great Washington State Birding Trail. Leavenworth has become a birding hotspot with seven sites along this statewide trail in Leavenworth alone, one adjacent to Sleeping Lady. Tennis
Four courts are available at Cascade High School in Leavenworth on a first-come, first-serve basis.
