Nature
Sleeping Lady was created in part to protect the natural beauty of its surrounding area, while creating a unique gathering place for people to experience that beauty and its significance to the human community.
Sleeping Lady is spread over 67 acres at the foot of the Stuart Range. Considered an "ecotome" or "transition zone," the area bridges the high Cascade alpine region and the arid desert basin of Central Washington. Icicle Creek runs down Icicle Canyon to the broader valley at Sleeping Lady, then flows into the Wenatchee River, and eventually the Columbia.
Care has been taken in the creation and operation of Sleeping Lady to preserve or restore natural habitat, including natural landscaping. Naturalists specializing in these areas can provide information on local plants and wildlife.
We also offer nature hikes and lectures, and can create customized nature experiences for conference and meeting parties.
