The Organic Garden at Sleeping Lady offers guests and visitors a unique place to stroll, relax and enjoy nature. The fully certified two-acre garden provides much of the produce and herbs used in Sleeping Lady’s restaurants as well as fresh flowers. An elegant gazebo features natural gnarled wood beams and provides the perfect location for visitors to take in the beautiful mountain surroundings.
Certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture in 1996, the Organic Garden is managed by an expert staff that uses only environmentally-friendly gardening techniques. In addition to applying natural fertilizers and regularly rotating crops to improve the soil, the staff works to attract environmentally beneficial insects like bees and ladybugs to maintain a healthy and sustainable garden. The culinary team visits the garden daily to harvest fresh ingredients and plan upcoming Sleeping Lady’s menus.
The Organic Garden is one the best spots at Sleeping Lady to observe wildlife. Many kinds of birds – including humming birds, black birds, purple finches, and robins – call the garden home. Sleeping Lady is located along the migration routes of several bird species and offers enthusiasts exceptional bird watching, particularly in May and June.
The Organic Garden is open to the public daily. The best time to visit is during the spring and summer growing seasons, from April to September, during daylight hours. To arrange a tour or to learn more, call (509) 548-6344.
